History & Heritage
Founded in the 7th century by Raja Ajaypal Chauhan, Ajmer grew into an important centre of trade and learning. The city later came under Mughal rule and remains a major Sufi pilgrimage site centred on the Dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.
